It was our subdivision yard sale, an annual event. Last year I was busy buying sleepers and baby socks, and the year before I was having a sale of my own. I wonder if I will be buying or selling next year?
Here is what I found today:
A herd of dinosaurs. The brachiosaurus is still in his carseat. I don't know if he will like dinosaurs, but I assume he might, and at a quarter each, its a safe bet. I tried to get some less scary looking ones, but really... aren't velociraptors the best dinosaurs? Its okay that I got two of them, right?
Wooden balancing toy... $2, negotiated from $4!
Construction car (dozer? scoop? IDK.) a quarter.
Uno game... free! We made a deal with some other games.
I think this is such a neat toy! It is like a teeter totter, and the base and seat are separate. The wooden donuts are too small for my son right now, but I think he will like this later on. Its a thinking toy!
Double Twelve Dominoes! I counted to be sure, and all 91 are there. These are the nice, heavy ones. We will play a lot of chicken foot with this set! $1, plus the free Uno game.
Antique card game we spotted at the table with dominoes. $1.
It was in great condition! It even included the rules and an advertisement from the company.
The jolliest game ever invented for an informal good time.
This is a hefty promise!
I guess you trade grains. Doesn't sound all that jolly to me.
It says, "The greater the babel the more laughter and ludicrous the excitement."
It also says copyright 1919, so perhaps it is a different definition of ludicrous. Or exitement.
Fantastic silk scarves. Some are hand dyed! Others are not. But all were just a quarter! I bought 9. She gave me one for free! These scarves had another life before me... one with a classy and fastidious elderly lady who also collected JFK memorbilia and had several wigs.
Two sets of jumbo wooden blocks. Free! They were thrown in with a lot from another sale. I asked!
Playtex bottle set, unused, with 4 bottles and 8 extra nipples - $5. This is a really good bargain. They bottles were not used, either!
These were free - unopened mass quantities of breastmilk bags and other accesories!
Husby spotted this for $0.50. He hated how the milk was scattered in our freezer.
Note: Some of these items are for a friend... friend, please act surprised when I give them to you!
8 pairs of socks for $0.60.
I love babies in stripes! A quarter each. I did not negotiate since I was already getting that free nursing gear.
I really liked these snap up onesies. They are SO tiny. I can't believe last year that these were almost baggy on my baby! I think they were $0.50. I little high for yard sale baby gear that is a dime a dozen, but these were unworn and just so appealing.
And these sets were also $0.50 each. I could not resist!
Alligator swimming trunks! And a shirt to match! Ah. So great! Of course I will pay fifty cents. What? I don't have a baby that can wear this? Oh, well. Maybe someday! Or maybe a gift! Wouldn't it be great with some baby SPF, a water toy, and a bucket hat?
Another gender neutral onesie for a un-determined gender baby. A quarter.
And did you notice that these baby clothes are not girl-ish? I guess I have learned about passing over baby girl-frilly-pretty-lovely sales for so long. Or maybe I think my friends are having boy babies.
My favorite purchases of the day. Small children's books from the 50s and 60s. They were a nickel each!!!! I think the stories are darling, but the illustrations are so wonderful. I am thinking this would be a great ESTY.com shop item! The pages could be framed for lovely nursery prints.
Several books. About $3 total.
Doesn't this book look like a hoot? Its an easy reader and its from BEFORE PEOPLE WENT TO THE MOON. How neat!
Example of the precious books. This Bo-Peep story is 18 pages long! The sheep go to a tea shop, then go buy hats, and then take naps. I didn't know that part of the story.
I love this page from the book called Animal Train. This would be such a good framed print!
Here are some non-vintage books. These are the best read alouds I found. I especialy like Jamberry, the Jack Prelutsky poems, and The Night Before Christmas.
This toddler life vest was $1. It was techically from Husby's alloted $15 yardsale money.
Shape sorting toy for $0.25. We tried it out already... its a bit advanced for him! Maybe after a little practice.
The last two photos are of something my husband spent 5 bucks on. Its an ATARI. That is a really old gaming system, so old that there is a switch to indicate if your TV set is colorful or black and white!
He had a hard time figuring out how to plug it in. Its just so old! He got the system and at least a dozen games for five bucks. I think he will probably sell this for $50. He isn't actually much of a gamer.
And one last look at my pretty, pretty scarves.
