The project I posted about earlier this week still looks much the same.
I can't get the machine to work properly. The thread remains knotted up on the underside of a tester piece of fabric, even though my husband and I each put an hour into rethreading it/checking tension/fooling with it.
That I'll show me for trying to take up a new hobby when I've got a perfectly good yoga DVD collection sitting -dustily, a digital photo book to complete, two books half read, and a blog that needs a bit more attention if I want to be a better blogger!
But boy, once this gets sorted out my kid is going to go nuts over this Mickey fleece car seat blanket!

Good luck with that. I never, ever mastered the sewing machine....although admittedly I never really tried very hard.
Bethany, I have a couple of things you can try. I am sure you have taken the bobbin assembly apart and blown it with canned air to get any lint or stray bits of thread out; but if you haven't, it is one of the first things I do. Put in a brand new needle. And lastly, wind a new bobbin. Sometimes something isn't quite right and the machine balks with it. My machine despises a bobbin that is almost empty.
One last tip. Make sure you have long strings of both top and bobbin thread to start your stitches with and hold them with your hand so the bobbin thread doesn't get poked down in there to tangle up. Once you have a couple of stitches, it should be fine. Hope one of these tips helps. Have a great day.
I am really looking forward to seeing what it looks like. It sounds fantastic.
